Stud News

30 April 08: "Buster" (Southwind High Mark) has been weaned slightly early due to his sheer size, giving his poor mother a break! He is coping much better than I expected, since he is a real mummys boy. His dam Southwind Summer Escapade is off to her new home at Woodrow Pony Stud, and Im sure Jacqui Law with have many years of breeding from this fantastic mare, and many stunning foals ahead.

19 April 08: A sad beginning to the start of the week saying goodbye to Willow Park Copperfield (Paddy), but the week ended on a good note with the arrival of Willow Park Blue Magnate(Taffy). "Paddy" arrived safe and sound after his long journey down to Christchurch. We look forward to progress reports from his new owners.

Introducing..... "Willow Park Blue Magnate"

"Taffy" has settled in well although it took him a few hours to find his "sea legs" walking up and down the hills, after living on flat ground since birth! He is just exquisite and has absolutely superb and we are just thrilled to bits with him. Thanks to Bill & Lee Porter for giving us the opportunity to have such a lovely colt, and thanks to his dam Klondike Opal fo listing to me whisper in her ear "Buckskin colt please" when I visitied Willow Park stud when she was in foal! ( Please see Colts/Stallion Page)

With the damage the excessive rain the property has takn over the last week I am wondering if our small studs pasture is going to be able to handle all of the ponies, so I am reluctantly looking at offering either our stunning full height Riding Pony Mare (In foal to Langtree Evening Espresso (IMP AUS) or her Colt by Langtree Evening Espresso for sale.

10 April 08: The two purebred foals coped fantastically with weaning, more surprisingly so did the first time dams! Just the riding pony colt to go, and he will be weaned at the end of the month.  Young "Paddy" (Willow Park Copperfield) leaves us this weekend heading on a long journey to the South Island. He has proved himself amazingly easy to work with, and I will miss him dearly.

10 March 08: Well another season is over for us. Its now time to wean the foals and prepare for the winter months. Willow Park Copperfield will be off to his new home once weaned.  New stallion paddocks are being built, on a previous unused section of our property. The mares are eagerley looking over the fence, hoping they get to clean up the long grass before the new arrival comes! Mahongany Autumn Splendor will be going back home to start work over the winter for her debut in Lead Rein next season.  A great time was had at HOY, catching up with old friends and meeting many news ones. The Abela Ponies tent was a hit, it was awesome to be able to shop whilst watching all of the action! It was also great to see so many competitors and winners in the Abela gear.

12 January 08: Southwind Summer Escapade and foal have arrived safetly, (although prematurely! cutting my NZ National Showing Championships short!!! )from Blenheim and have settled in well and are enjoying the Bays sunshine.

02 January 08: Well we have definately started the year off with a bang with 2 new ponies to join GPS. Southwind Summer Escapade and her exquisite colt foal by Langtree Evening Espresso(Imp Aus) are making their way to the Bay. It will be interesting to see the size difference in her foal compared to ours! Our wee colt Paddy will be thrilled to have another colt to rough and tumble with, as thats not quite the wee filly Rosies cup of tea! We are also looking forward to the arrival of another colt, by Langtree Magnate (Imp Aus) who will be joining us after weaning, who is something out of the box and quite different, who we plan to stand at stud in the future.

26 December 07:Definately an interesting year for GPS. We have decided to start the stud back up again, and with the purchase of some stunning new stock and colt we look foward to 08!

Willow Park Fashion Secrets has been served by Langtree Just So (Imp Aus), so we are patienty awaiting confirmation on her pregnacy. The foals are growing on well. (See GPS Born & Bred/Foals 07 page for updated photos).

A sad end to a good year though with a friend losing her lovely horse Tattle Tale, just prior to Christmas. He was the first foal I had ever seen born. He was a Supreme Champion Led Horse and was Reserve Sport Horse of the Year at 2 years of age. He had just commenced his career under saddle at at 3 years of age, and he had already started to dominate the Novice Park Hack ring, winning Champions. Rest in peace Ollie, you are sadly missed.

October 07: GPS has two stunning new arrivals, Willow Park Copperfield and GPS Double Delight. See GPS Born & Bred/Foals 07 page for more information and photos.
